Feeling Good

Wishful Singing performs the music closest to its heart in Feeling Good. The programme showcases richly diverse repertoire: Scarlatti’s most beautiful piece for a cappella female voices, the pentatonic purity of English folk music, Gregorian monophony and the irresistible appeal of close harmony. In short, ‘feel good’ music in the broadest sense. It includes the effervescent music of Bert van den Brink, winner of the Boy Edgar prize. The first-rate pianist joined forces with Wishful Singing during the lockdown in an inspiring collaboration. The result was the Zing je sterk project: singing therapy for people with Long Covid, developed by Wishful Singing together with healthcare professionals. Feeling Good features their favourite arrangements created during this unique project.

The addition of the multitalented but unassuming musician Bert van den Brink transformed this performance into a veritable feast. ... At its close, the singers joined him in a delightful rendition of the most frequently arranged song of all time, George Gershwin’s Summertime. They brought a freshness to the song that made it sound as if it had been composed just yesterday ... the encore was equally sparkling. This was a truly therapeutic Feel Good concert in so many ways.
